Instituée en juin
1987 à l'Office des Nations Unies à Genève, la Réunion
interinstitutions sur la terminologie et la
traduction assistée par ordinateur (JIAMCATT) a pour objet d'offrir
à ses partenaires un cadre de discussion, d'échanges et de coopération
dans les domaines de la terminotique, de la traductique, de l'interprétation et de la
recherche documentaire et de constituer un patrimoine intellectuel inaliénable des
organisations internationales dans ces domaines.

Created in June 1987 at the
United Nations Office at Geneva, the Joint Inter-Agency Meeting on Computer-Assisted
Translation and Terminology (JIAMCATT) provides its partners with a forum for
debate, exchange of expertise and cooperation in the fields of computer-assisted terminology
and translation, interpretation and documentation retrieval. It works to establish a proprietary
terminology and information repository available to all participating
organizations.

A ce titre,
JIAMCATT vise à renforcer les échanges entre les services
linguistiques des organisations internationales et des organismes nationaux en vue de
promouvoir la mise en commun des données terminologiques des partenaires sur
un support informatique accessible à tous. Ainsi, JIAMCATT est un forum d'échange de connaissances théoriques et pratiques dans le domaine de la terminologie et de la traduction assistées par ordinateur ; elle agit en tant que mécanisme de coordination et fournit un pôle d'informations sur les services linguistiques des organisations internationales et des institutions des Etats membres intéressées.

To this end,
JIAMCATT intends to enhance exchanges among linguistic services of international
organizations and national bodies in order to promote the pooling and harmonization of its partners' terminology resources into an accessible, electronic form for all. In addition to being an exchange forum for theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of terminology and computer-assisted translation and to acting as a coordination mechanism, JIAMCATT provides information on the translation departments of international organizations and interested institutions of Member States.
